How to Apply For YouTube Monetization

You can earn from YouTube as a YouTube content creator. The most common way to make money is to run YouTube ads on your channel, for example, before the start of a video, in the middle, etc.

When you want to start making money from YouTube, you need to monetize your channel first, and there is a way and a requirement to meet before you start monetization. This article explains how to apply for YouTube monetization.

What is YouTube Monetization?

There are different ways to make money on YouTube. When you create a YouTube channel, you will slowly grow it to gain more subscribers and viewers for your content. At some point, you can start monetizing the content you download and earn a substantial income, depending on your strategy.

YouTube allows creators to join the YouTube Partner Program, where they earn a share of revenue generated based on their content. For example, YouTube ads will generate revenue, and the content creator will earn 55%. However, you must be part of the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) before enjoying these benefits.

All your revenue will be transferred to your Google AdSense account for monetization. Besides ads, you can earn money on YouTube through different options. For example, you can join an affiliate marketing program and earn a commission. You can also sell merchandise on YouTube, enable YouTube credits, use channel subscriptions, and more.

How to Apply for Monetization

Various YouTube creators have managed to make YouTube their main source of income. You, too, can make YouTube your side hustle or your full-time gig. However, you must understand how monetization works and the steps to apply for YouTube monetization.

YouTube monetization is a privilege left to those who join the YouTube Partner Program. You join the YPP by applying and being accepted. Before you can use it, you must meet two conditions. First, your channel must have 1000 subscribers. Finally, you must have reached more than 4000 hours of viewing.

Once you have met the two, you can apply for the YPP and monetize. Here’s how to apply for YouTube monetization.

  1. Open YouTube on your browser.
  2. Click your profile icon at the top.
  3. Select the YouTube Studio option.
  4. Locate “Monetization” on the left and click on it.
  5. NB! The button will only appear if you have met the requirements.
  6. Read the PC’s terms and agree to them.
  7. Connect your Google AdSense account or create a new one.
  8. Finally, wait for approval.

On-screen prompts will guide you through each step. Once the process is complete, you must wait for YouTube to review your application. If accepted, you will receive a notification. You can then start earning money through YouTube ads.

Conclusion

YouTube Monetization is a YouTube partner program that allows creators to start earning money from their content. You must be eligible before you can apply for YouTube monetization.

To apply, open YouTube and go to YouTube Studio. You will see the monetize button if you are eligible. Click on it, follow the prompts to complete the application, and await approval.
